We didn't realise craft and carpets could cause such a problem
On this holiday we had a craft that involved a bit of sticking, to make it easier (so we thought) we decided to use double-sided sticky tape. One of the Guiders explained that the girls needed to stick a piece of tape onto the lolly stick, peel off the backing paper from the tape and then stick the next piece of wood onto the tape.
Brownie: My wood isn't sticking
Guider; Have you put the sticky tape on?
Brownie; Yes but it isn't sticky
Guider: The piece of tape you are holding is the backing paper, what have you done with the other piece?
Brownie: Oh there was something wrong with that piece; it was all sticky so I threw it away!
Maybe next year we should go back to old fashioned glue
We also had a problem with the carpet. The lady renting out the hall had said the carpet was new and would we try not to get anything on it. I ask you! A hall with 12 very excited girls, eating, drinking, playing and using sticky tape and glue. A bit of a tall order, we became paranoid about this carpet and when something did get spilt the leaders all shouted and were running around like head-less chickens trying to clean the carpet and hope the caretaker would not visit until it was dry again. It was a lovely hall to stay in but I don't think we will be going back there, we would not be able to survive 'The carpet'
